INTERNSHIP SUMMARY: Assists with mobilizing people in various communities or settings to voice support for full access to reproductive freedom. Work with other staff and volunteers of the Health Center to coordinate activist/volunteer/supporter recruitment and mobilization.  Works with other staff and volunteers in furthering educational and legislative goals of the Feminist Women’s Health Center.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Familiarity with and commitment to reproductive health and rights issues.
• A desire and interest to learn about lobbying, political campaigns, or community organizing needed.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, including writing and computer skills.
• Attention to detail is a must.
• Car and driver’s license required for in-state travel. 
• Flexibility in work hours as some evenings and occasional weekend hours are necessary.
• Must be able to intern for at least 20 hours per week during the internship.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with organizing reproductive rights supporters and recruit new members and volunteers.
• Assist with mobilizing new activists and increasing activism among existing members.
• Assist with identifying “key contacts” in targeted communities.
• Administers and maintains records for FWHC’s email advocacy network, database, etc.
• Attends legislative hearings, committee meetings, etc. periodically at the state legislature.
• Keeps campaign records for weekly meetings.
• Handles logistics for campaign or coalition meetings.
• Monitor newspapers and other key media outlets, and assist with implementing communication, organizing or media strategies.
